This year’s MINExpo was the biggest yet. With over 840,000 square feet of exhibitor space reserved, it easily out paced the record setting 2012 conference.

The three day event was held at the end of September at the world’s largest convention centre in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The dash mounted device alerts drivers of the presence of personnel, vehicles and obstacles, as well as user defined geofences. The configurable PAS-Z helps manage vehicle interactions by reporting reliable information on the proximity of the closest objects. The user-friendly system also has a start-up system that has reporting capabilities to keep the system performing at peak efficiency to ensure each job site utilizing PAS is safer and more productive.

Ceremony at MINExpo marks 25,000th installation of Collision Avoidance System

September 27th marked the 25,000th installation of its SAFEmine Collision Avoidance System (CAS) by honoring Barrick Gold for its commitment to safety. In a presentation held during MINExpo in Las Vegas, Hexagon Mining President, Hélio Samora, congratulated Barrick.

“It’s fitting that a progressive company such as Barrick is part of this landmark,” said Samora. “The company’s commitment to digital solutions is well known, and nowhere is that commitment more important than protecting lives and equipment.”

Craig Ross, Barrick Gold’s Vice President of Safety and Health, accepted the award.

Komatsu Couple Weds At MINExpo

A slightly more unusual ceremony was also held at the Las Vegas event. Jesse Townsend, an employee of Komatsu America Corp., maried Mariana Balashova atop a Komatsu 930E-5 truck. The pair met when Townsend was working for Komatsu in Russia. The ceremony was certainly different!
